Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-13
1. Acceptance and scope
By installing or using the LensDay Android application, or by visiting the lensday.app website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the LensDay app or this website.
These Terms apply alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data. If there is any conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy on a data-protection question, the Privacy Policy governs.
2. What LensDay is
LensDay is a self-reflection journal with an AI-powered coach. You write or record a check-in; an AI model generates a reflective response based on what you submit. Over time, LensDay learns your patterns and tailors its responses to your goals and preferences.
LensDay is a self-development tool. It is not therapy, medical advice, psychiatric care, crisis intervention, or any other form of professional help. See section 8 for the full disclaimer.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use LensDay. By using the service you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
LensDay is not designed for, marketed to, or intended for use by minors. If we learn that an account belongs to a person under 18, we will close that account and delete the associated data.
4. Your account
You access LensDay by signing in with a supported authentication provider (currently Google Sign-In). You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity that happens under your account.
One person, one account. Don’t share accounts; don’t create multiple accounts for the same person to bypass free-tier limits.
To delete your account, see How to delete your account.
5. Subscriptions and billing
LensDay is free to start — no credit card is required to create an account or use the free tier.
Paid subscriptions are available within the app:
- Premium Monthly — recurring monthly subscription
- Premium Annual — recurring annual subscription
- Founding Member — limited founding-rate annual subscription, capped at the first 500 subscribers (or the then-current cap)
Current pricing is displayed in the app at the time of purchase. We may change subscription pricing from time to time; existing subscribers are notified through the app before any renewal at a new price, with an opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.
5.1 How billing works
All subscription billing is processed by Google Play. We do not see your payment-card details or bank-account information. By starting a subscription you also agree to the Google Play terms of service.
5.2 Auto-renewal
Subscriptions auto-renew for the same period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date. Cancel anytime through your Google Play account: open the Play Store app → tap your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → LensDay → Cancel subscription.
Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep access to paid features until that date.
5.3 Refunds
All refund requests are handled by Google Play under their refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.
5.4 EU/EEA right of withdrawal
For EU/EEA consumers, the standard 14-day withdrawal right may not apply to digital content or digital services that are supplied immediately, where the legally required consent and acknowledgement have been obtained during the purchase flow. Where required by law, this consent and acknowledgement will be requested before immediate access to paid features begins.
5.5 Founding Member program
The Founding Member tier is limited to the first 500 subscribers (the cap may be increased in the future at our discretion). Founding-rate pricing applies for the lifetime of an uninterrupted Founding Member subscription — if your subscription lapses or is cancelled, the founding rate is not guaranteed on a future re-subscription.
6. The free tier
LensDay’s free tier is a permanent product surface, not a time-limited trial. After your first week:
- Day 0: one onboarding check-in (multimodal — text, photo, voice)
- Days 1–6: up to six guided multimodal check-ins, one per day
- Day 7 and beyond: one text-only check-in per day, no audio coach replies, no insight cards
This is your permanent free tier. You can use LensDay this way for as long as you like, with no payment required. There is no time limit on the free tier; the text-only phase from Day 7 onward continues indefinitely.
7. Fair use
LensDay relies on third-party AI APIs that have real per-request costs. To keep the service available to everyone, we apply soft fair-use bands to check-in volume:
- 1–3 check-ins per day: full service
- 4–8 check-ins per day: soft throttle — responses may take longer or use cached patterns
- 10 or more check-ins per day: gentle block — additional check-ins are queued to the following day
These bands apply to free, Premium, and Founding Member tiers alike. The goal is to support genuine reflection rather than compulsive use; the bands are not enforced as bans, just as cool-down periods.
If you have a legitimate use case that consistently exceeds these bands (research, teaching, professional context), contact privacy@lensday.app and we’ll talk.
8. AI-generated content and non-medical disclaimer
Read this section carefully.
Coach responses in LensDay are generated by large language models operated by third parties (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). These models produce statistically-likely text based on patterns in their training data; they do not understand you, do not diagnose conditions, and do not exercise clinical judgment.
LensDay is NOT:
- Not a medical device. LensDay is not registered, certified, or approved as a medical device under EU Regulation 2017/745 (MDR), the US Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, or any equivalent regulation.
- Not therapy. LensDay is not psychotherapy, counselling, or any other form of regulated mental-health treatment.
- Not a mental-health professional. LensDay does not employ, supervise, or otherwise stand behind any licensed psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist, or counsellor in delivering its coach responses.
- Not crisis support. LensDay is not equipped to recognize or respond to crisis situations including suicidal ideation, self-harm, abuse, or acute mental distress.
- Not diagnostic. LensDay cannot diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or recommend medication.
- Not a substitute for any of the above.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself or others, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services right now. Crisis hotlines, emergency medical services, and trained mental-health professionals are equipped to help in ways that LensDay cannot.
You acknowledge that AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, inappropriate, or unhelpful for your specific situation. You are responsible for evaluating whether LensDay’s responses are useful to you. You should not rely on LensDay’s responses as the sole basis for any decision affecting your health, safety, finances, or relationships.
9. Your content
You retain all rights to the content you submit to LensDay — your check-ins, photos, voice recordings, text, profile information, and coach context. You do not transfer ownership to us.
By submitting content to LensDay you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the LensDay service to you — generating coach responses, computing patterns and insights, syncing across your devices, and the related operations described in our Privacy Policy.
We do not use your content to train AI models, and we have configured our AI providers to apply the same restriction on the requests we send them.
You can export everything you have stored in LensDay at any time through Profile → Export Data. You can delete everything by following the account-deletion procedure.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use LensDay for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable law in your jurisdiction
- Submit content that infringes someone else’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the LensDay app, scrape the website, probe for vulnerabilities, or otherwise interfere with the service’s normal operation
- Use automated tools or scripts to interact with the service
- Create multiple accounts in an attempt to bypass the fair-use bands or free-tier limits
- Impersonate another person, misrepresent your identity, or use the service in any other deceptive way
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially redistribute access to the LensDay service
We may suspend or terminate access to LensDay for users who materially or repeatedly breach these acceptable-use rules.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who processes it on our behalf, and what rights you have. It is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using LensDay you also agree to the practices described there.
12. Termination
You can stop using LensDay at any time. To delete your account and associated data, follow the account-deletion procedure. Deletion triggers a 30-day soft-delete grace period during which you can reactivate by signing in again; after 30 days your data is permanently purged.
Account deletion does not automatically cancel an active subscription. If you have a paid subscription and want to stop being billed, cancel separately through Google Play (see section 5.2).
We may suspend or terminate your access to LensDay if you materially breach these Terms — for example, by violating the acceptable-use rules in section 10, by trying to defraud the billing system, or by using the service in a way that puts other users or our infrastructure at risk. Where reasonably possible, we will give you advance notice and an opportunity to cure the breach.
13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
LensDay is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that LensDay will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that coach responses will be accurate, useful, appropriate, or fit for any specific purpose. See section 8 for the AI-content and non-medical disclaimer.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of LensDay is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) €100.
These limitations do not apply to: (a) liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence); (b) statutory consumer-protection rights that cannot be waived in your jurisdiction.
(c) liability for the breach of an essential contractual duty whose performance makes the proper execution of the contract possible and on which you may regularly rely. In such cases, our liability is limited to damages that are typical for this type of contract and reasonably foreseeable at the time the contract is concluded.
14. Changes, governing law, and contact
14.1 Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, the Last Updated date at the top of this page changes. Material changes are notified to active users through the app. Your continued use of LensDay after a change signals acceptance of the updated Terms.
14.2 Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the member state where LensDay is established, with the exception of conflict-of-laws rules.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA, you retain all mandatory consumer-protection rights granted to you under the laws of your country of residence, regardless of the choice-of-law clause above. You may bring legal action in the courts of your country of residence (Brussels Ia Regulation, Art. 18).
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA and we have not been able to resolve a complaint to your satisfaction through privacy@lensday.app, you may contact the consumer-protection authority in your country of residence. LensDay does not currently participate in a voluntary alternative-dispute-resolution scheme.
14.3 Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable in a particular jurisdiction, that provision is severed; the remainder of these Terms continues in force. These Terms and the Privacy Policy together constitute the entire agreement between you and us concerning the LensDay service; they supersede any earlier agreement or representation.
14.4 Contact
